Gold-plated gold is the latest commodity to pop up on the market and it’s becoming a popular purchase option for consumers.
Aussie retailer Blanton’s Gold says it has sold over 100,000 Xbox 360 games in just one month, while a similar sales volume was seen by Microsoft on a similar platform last month.
“We’re now seeing demand for Xbox 360 consoles outstripping supply,” Ms Rizzi said.
“It’s been very challenging to meet our goals with our console program, and as a result, we’ve had to make some tough decisions to make sure that we can continue to deliver quality for our customers.”
Blanton’s is the first Australian retailer to sell Xbox 360-based games, but the company is expanding its portfolio of titles to include PlayStation 3 and Wii U titles.
“In the past, Blanton has always delivered Xbox 360 titles at a premium, so it’s no surprise to see demand for the next generation for the Xbox 360 has been outpacing supply,” she said.
“It’s exciting to see how much demand is coming from people who were looking for a similar experience on PlayStation 3 or Wii U.”
The number of games that are available on Xbox 360 is staggering.
“Aussie retailers are finding the popularity of Xbox 360 gaming is helping them attract customers who would otherwise not have played on the platform.”
If you’ve got a gaming platform, you’re going to have a lot of people that are going to want to play your games,” Ms Riccio said.”[If] you’ve never played the game, then you might not be interested.
“But when you’ve played it for a while, it’s a bit of a novelty, and people are very familiar with the game.”
