PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP announced Thursday that he would donate $1 million to Gold Spots Families and their supporters after the day’s events.
The President’s decision comes days after he was asked about the Gold Star family’s reaction to the terrorist attack in Paris.
“We’re working very hard to help out the Gold Spotted Families and all the other Gold Spot families,” Trump told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
“They are a very special family and we’re really, really appreciative of what they’re doing.”
The president also said that he will donate $2 million to the Gold Stars Families.
“My heart goes out to the families, especially the Gold Specks,” Trump said, referring to the Stars.
“I know there’s a lot of Gold Spott families in there.
And I know we have a lot going on in the world.”
Trump has previously donated millions of dollars to various charities, including the Veterans Administration, the White House, the Department of Defense and the Environmental Protection Agency.
He was also a major donor to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, a state agency that repairs and maintains the highway.
“This is going to be an important week for us,” Trump added.
“And I will say, look, it’s going to go a long way.
And we’re gonna have a great week ahead.”
The White House said Trump will donate the $1.5 million to “help rebuild communities affected by the deadly attacks in Paris.”
The news of the President’s announcement comes just days after the president was asked by ABC News whether he would have donated the money to the Golden Spotted family.
“You can bet on that,” Trump responded.
“No, I would not.
That would not have happened.”
